Joey Johns - Record Breaker Redemption

In case you don’t know, the new NRL Invincible Series has a limited release Record Breaker Signature card of Andrew Johns.

The card is a tribute to the games new highest point scorer as he surpassed the record last set by Jason Taylor throughout the 90’s.

The Joey Johns card is destined to be the most valuable card in the Invincible set. He’s enormously popular with all fans, he broke the record on Sunday to become the NRL’s highest ever point scorer and there’s only 120 signed cards!!!

This could easily be a $1000+ card in the near future, but is likely to start out around the $500 dollar mark over the next few months. Let’s face it, he’s the best player we’ve seen in a long, long time and he is guaranteed Legend status in the history of the game.

Heck, Select have already given him Legend status by including him in the Legend Die Cut sub set in this same series.

The Joey Johns card has already caused a stir among some footy card collectors. I got an email from a keen collector (and amateur conspiracy theorist) last week asking when the new NRL Invincible Series would be released. As you know there was a 5 day delay on the release until this week and his conspiracy theory went a little like this…

“Do you think the delay is because Joey didn’t break the record against Manly? Did they (Select) want to wait until he broke the record against Parramatta? Are Select trying to use Joey breaking the record as a publicity stunt to promote the new series?”

Interesting theory… but a theory none the less!

I certainly haven’t seen any press release from Select promoting the new series since Joey broke the record!
